Literary Elements (2)

Literary Element- Another literary element in this book was the fact that Mr. Utterson did not open the letter Dr. Lanyon had sent to him after his death because Mr. Lanyon left directions not to until their other mutual friend was dead. Surprisingly Mr. Utterson did not because he respected the wishes of his deceased friend. This shows his good character, as they say character counts when no one is watching. So he is very trustworthy.

Elements of the Historical Context

Elements of the Historical Context- In this book it describes that strange building that always has the chimney smokeing. Chimneys in the Victorian age were the only real way to keep warm, with a fire. It also says about the same building how you cant tell how wide it is because the houses were so tight together. Again this is a victorian style thing with houses close together. Finally they mention the oil powered lamps alot, anf how they lined up down the streets in peoples houses. These were the only light they could use other than the moon when it was dark because they still had not invented the light bulb.

Elements of Romance and/or Relationships

Relationships-One big important relationship is the friendship between Mr. Jekyll, Mr. Lanyon, and Mr. Utterson. "We are three very old friends..." (page 23) These three are some of the main people that have conflicts which is interesting because they are also the best of friends. So how does a great and aged friendship turn into not wanting to see or talk to one another. This is a symbol that represents the downfall of certain connections. Some will end even sometimes unexpectadly.

Literary Element (1)

Literary element- In this novel a big element to me is when the murder occurs. The woman is just sitting in her house mouthing words to a man outside her window, and this man is with Hyde. Then out of no where Mr. Hyde just starts brutally hammering hard on the man with his solid wood cane. "...with ape like fury, he was trampling his victim under foot and hailing down a storm of blows, under which the bones were audibly shattered..." (page 15) Now this is the first real for sure sign that something is wrong with Mr. Hyde. This action comes out of no where surprising any reader. It shows a grotesque and evil side that no one thought would have reached the level that it did.

Cracking The Soul (chapter 23)

Cracking The Soul (chapter 23)
The wedding night had came, and I was watching. The creator had been prancing around with his face showing fear. He had no idea that I had no intention of killing him directly. Instead I wanted to kill him from the inside out, I wanted him to cry himself to sleep everynight with the thought of being alone and then awake in a huge puddle of his own tears! So when he left his heart and soul Elizabeth alone I made my move, I confronted her. When her eyes met mine, they were horrified. It was if she had seen the devil himself pointing his pitchfork right at her eyeballs. I sprang for her neck and she shrieked as hard as any human possibly could, but all I did was keep squeezing! I pictured as though her neck was the creators heart. I had to crush it, I had to squeeze until it popped! I must destroy him for what he did to me! Die! After I saw she had no life in her I left and saw the creators expession on his face. He had now felt true pain that same as i had. Now maybe he will think twice before lying to me.

Preperation (chapter 22)

Preperation (chapter 22)
As the creators wedding arrives I must prepare myself. I look  for where he will be staying on his wedding night and i examine every wall. I soon figure out every way to get into the house, ha the creator has no idea what is coming. He is not ready for me, if he thinks I am evil now well just wait until your wedding night, I will show you what real evil is.

Revenge Is Here (chapter 21)

Revenge Is Here (chapter 21)
I had just left where the creator was and I was filled with anger. I must make him know how it feels to be alone. So I went after the ones closest to him. I soon found a man by the name of Henry who knew the creator. This was my chance, I had to get this Henry fellow to get the creator. So when he was alone I pounced from where I waited using my agility to reach him as fast as I could. When I finally grabbed his little neck I squezzed until he struggled no more. That should have taught the creator a lesson or two. This wasn't a game, because I don't play.

Pondering At The Idea (chapter 20)

Pondering At The Idea (chapter 20)
So my creator was finally about to finish the companion I had anxiously longed for since my first breath into this gruesome world. I could not wait, the excitement was getting to me. So I watched him through the wondow as he created her. My panting made the glass unclear, but I could see he was almost done! Then his facial expression changed, as if he was afriad, but he was looking straight out. Staring into nothing but the air around him. Suddenly he began to destroy by only companion. As he did I looked on with rage, feeling like i did when I saw his brother William, but on a level much greater than that. I promised the creator I would declare my vengeance upon him, I would be there on his wedding night, waiting.

Searching (Chapter 16)

Searching (Chapter 16)
I told Victor the next part of my story. That after I had seen the man so afraid of me, it angered me filling me with rage that Victor created me and just left me like an abomination. I left to Geneva and ran into a girl who was drowning, while trying to save her a man thought I was attacking her and  he made a bang that struck me with pain, as if a vibration made of fire went down me from head to toe, but I kept going. Then as I reached close to Geneva I ran into Victor's younger brother, William. After finding out he was related to Victor something overcame me! I grabbed him and fought him until he moved no more. I did not know what I did but I grabbed a picture of a lady and I left with the overwhelming feeling completely gone as if it had nver happened. So after explaining this to Victor I told him to make a girl monster for me, to accompany myself during my journey.

Encountering Others (Chapter 15)

Encountering Others (Chapter 15)
I next told Victor about when I actually decided to present myself to the family in the cottage. After finding Victor's notes he wrote about me I wanted to know if I was as horrifying to others as I was to him. Well first I waited to talk to one person alone, and the old man was the first chance I had, but I was not able to move for a strange reason and it felt as if someething was tying my stomach in a not. Why could I not move easily? Finally though, I came out and said hello, and started to explain where I come form, but then the other three people came back and rushed me away frightened by my appearance, it was a horrible feeling to know he thought I was disgusting like Victor did. Knowing that nobody wants you in there sight, feeling they despise you just because you breathe the same air as them. As if I should be destroyed for merely existing. :/

The Learning Begins(Chapter 12)

The Learning Begins (Chapter 12)
I then told Victor about the things I witnessed when I stayed around the hut where the other people lived. I had told him how I learned basic language and how I learned about poverty and facial expression. I had started to understand how to communicate and be more of a person. It was hard, but I still did it without him. It was my first experience that I realized i was becoming more independant. I could do things on my own. I can do what they do, and this gives me more thought that says we really are not that different.

The Conference (Chapter 11)

The Conference (Chapter 11)
When I ran into Victor I started to tell him what happened after he left me in that place. I told him how I left and I had learned how to do new things like fire and cooking food over the fire. I spent lots of times in the woods and when i did go out people looked at me with a certain look in their eye that I couldn't describe, felt like the same look Victor had gave me when i awoke. It was a horrible experience, but might have been different of Victor hadn't left me.

Meeting (Chapter 10)

Meeting (Chapter 10)
It had been many weeks without seeing that man again, I decided a while back to leave that place and walk outside. I met this one man on the way his name was justine, he was cool, but got silent for some reason. Later though I had ran into the man i had seen laying in the bed that first night. We were in a cold place and it was at the top of a structure. He seemed afraid, but i had to tell him the events i had gone through since i last seen him.

Awakening (Chapter 5)

Awakening (chapter 5)
Boom! That is the first thing I hear, and then the first thing I see is a flash. It feels like my first breath,my first time opening my eyes for years because they seem so used to being shut, and it felt like I was only partly there. My arms were not quite what i remembered them to be and neither were my legs. It kind of felt like I have two feet, whats going on? I was very confused, "What happened to me, where am I?", I said. So after waking up from sleeping I went looking around. Next i found this man laying down with a look as if the life had been drained out of him. After a while his eyes opened with a look that made it seem that he just saw a ghost. He ran out leaving me there all alone, so i decided to try to sleep again because ever since a woke up it hadn't been much fun, it had actually been quite horrible. I was trembling with fear of not knowing anything.
